Russia not support idea of universal tax - Medvedev.

TORONTO, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia did not support an idea of
introducing global taxes, which are intended to compensate for possible
bankruptcy consequences of major companies and banks.
"Russia does not support an idea of a universal tax, but we believe
that any country, which want to do it, can do it," the Russian president
said. He elaborated that if such a tax is introduced credits are getting
more expensive and the costs are shouldered on the financial sector and
people.
"Some countries are doing it, let's see how efficient it will be," he
noted.
"The main thing that we agreed upon at the summit is that each country
should decide independently on the introduction of taxes," Medvedev
underlined.

.Russia bids to host G-20 summit in 2013, but no final decision yet.

TORONTO, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia bids to host a G-20 summit in
2013, but no final decision has been taken yet.
"We offered our candidacy for 2013, but no final decision has been
taken yet, because Turkey also bids for this year," Russian presidential
aide Arkady Dvorkovich said. "The discussion on the issue will be
continued before a G-20 summit in Seoul due this autumn," the presidential
aide said.
A G-20 summit will be held in France next year and in Mexico - in 2012.

.G-20 leaders agree on most issues of summit agenda.

TORONTO, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The G-20 leaders managed to agree on
most issues put on the agenda of the current summit, but more far-sighted
issues remain unsettled.
"The leaders agreed on most issues put on the agenda of this summit,"
Russian presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich said. "They did not agree on
the issues, which were scheduled to resolve by a G-20 summit in Seoul," he
noted.
"The current summit was intermediate in order to check what had been
done and to give an impetus for further work," Dvorkovich said.

.Next BRIC meeting may be held on sidelines of G-20 summit in Seoul.

TORONTO, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- A next meeting of the BRIC leaders
(Brazil, Russia, India and China) may be held on the sidelines of a G-20
summit in Seoul due this autumn.
"This time a BRIC summit was not held, because Brazilian President
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva could not arrive in Toronto due to a devastating
flood in Brazil," Russian presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich said.
"Formally a next BRIC summit is scheduled in China, but probably the
leaders will hold a meeting in this format at some international forum,
likely at a G-20 summit in Seoul," he underlined.

.Medvedev says he supports European football.

TORONTO, June 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
acknowledged that he supports European football, but the ongoing FIFA
World Cup is still not in favor of Europe. The president regretted that he
could not watch any full match and would likely not to fan in the near
future, because he scheduled several trips in Russia this week.
"I could not watch almost anything during the World Cup due to
constant trips," he said. However, he could watch partially some live
broadcasts thanks to modern communication tools even in the absence of a
TV set. "I could do it only at the hotel, there the Wi-Fi zone is quite
good," he said. "These technologies should be developed obligatorily, this
helps when there is no TV set nearby," Medvedev underlined.
"I hope that I will be able to watch some matches," Medvedev said.
"Though I do not know how much I will be able to watch, because upon
return from this trip I will go on another trip to Siberia," he said,
inviting all journalists who wish it to accompany him in this working trip.
In reply to a question what team he supports Medvedev said, "I would
like to support Slovenia, but it failed to pass the group stage." "Now I
should choose a favourite," he underlined.
"I traditionally prefer to support European football, but European
teams are in minority so far," Medvedev added.
