Official: Sanctions not to affect Iran’s imports, exports

Tehran, June 27, IRNA – President of Iran’s Customs Administration Ardeshir Mohammadi said sanctions will not affect the volume of Iran’s import and export activities.

He said given Iran’s outstanding position in transit of goods, the country will not be harmed by the West’s sanctions.

He noted that since changing transit routes will not be economically justified for other countries, the sanctions are not likely to affect Iran’s imports and exports.

According to the customs official, the volume of Iran’s transited goods stood at 7 million tons with a value of dlrs 24 billion during the past Iranian year (ended March 20, 2010) while the figure is expected to rise to 8 million tons valuing dlrs 30 billion this year./end
