Two speedboats collide near Phangan Island, injuring 30 passengers
SURAT THANI, June 27 (TNA) - Two speedboats carrying both Thai and foreign tourists to and from Thailand's famous tropical island of Phangan clashed early Sunday morning, injuring some 30 people.
The speedboat "Petcharat" was bound for Samui Island carrying passengers who just finished their full moon party at Phangan when it collided with another speedboat "Seabeach" which was en route to the party island.
The accident occurred between the two islands during heavy rain and high waves.
Both Thai and international passengers fell overboard into the sea, but were recovered as all were wearing life jackets, although some were injured due to the collision.
The injured were sent to hospitals and the authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. (TNA)
