Patel jury to deliberate on Sunday
A Brisbane Supreme Court jury will continue its deliberations on Sunday into whether
former surgeon Jayant Patel killed three patients and permanently injured another.
However, even if they reach a verdict, the court will not reconvene to hear the
jury's decision until Monday morning.
Patel pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter of Mervyn Morris, Gerardus Kemps and
James Phillips.
He also pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Ian Vowles.
The charges relate to his time as director of surgery at the Bundaberg Base Hospital
between 2003 and 2005.
The jury began considering its verdict on Wednesday morning.
