Saudi Envoy says King's initiative to serve humanitarian issues

Manila, July 19, SPA -- Saudi ambassador to Philippines Mohammed
Ameen Wali said the World Conference on Dialogue, patronized by the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and
which concluded its three-day works earlier today in Madrid, came
within the framework of the efforts of the King for the service of
the Islamic and humanitarian problems.

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he said the call for
convening the conference embodies a wise and realistic vision as well
as reflects full awareness about the importance of dialogue and
understanding among the nations and civilizations.

He noted that the conference is welcomed in Philippines at the
official and popular levels.

The ambassador said "The speech of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz at the
conference's inaugural session was received with positive responses
by the Filipino media, senior officials and all categories of the
Filipino society."

He added that the idea of convening the conference in Madrid has
come in line with the call of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in Makkah.

He noted that the patronage of the conference by King Abdullah has
given the conference an important Arab and Islamic dimension.

The keenness of the Kingdom on convening the conference reflects its
solidarity with Arab problems, he said, adding that the call of King
Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in this respect constitutes an important
historical stage in the field of spreading the culture of tolerance
and openness among the nations and civilizations.
