Aramco Overseas Company, Suppliers hold meeting in Italy
TREMEZZO, Italy, July 19, SPA -- A selected group of 80 suppliers of strategic materials from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region has met
with Aramco Overseas Company (AOC) and Saudi Aramco representatives
during AOC’s third bi-annual supplier conference.
The daylong event, themed “Partner for Success: Building for the
Future†was conducted to enhance the company’s relationship with
strategically important suppliers, explain Saudi Aramco’s expansion
plans and promote local content.
“In this context we mean not only building oil and gas plants, but
also building relationships with you, Saudi Aramco’s strategically
important suppliers, " said Sultan N. Ghadery, manager of AOC
Purchasing and Logistics for Europe and Asia-Pacific in his opening
address.
A consistent theme throughout the presentations was the need for
suppliers to give serious thought to providing local content.
“At the moment, only 20 percent of what Saudi Aramco buys is
manufactured in Saudi Arabia. Over the next five years, Saudi Aramco
wants to increase its locally manufactured purchases to 50 percent or
more,†Ghadery told the audience.
