MALAYSIA, BRUNEI TO TAKE PART IN MALAY CULTURAL FESTIVAL IN W KALIMANTAN
Pontianak, West Kalimantan, July 18 (ANTARA) - Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam will take part in the Fifth Malay Cultural Festival to be held in Sanggau, around 220 km east of Pontianak, West Kalimantan Province, from July 21 to 24, 2008.
"This year's festival is different from those in the previous years, because participants will be not only from West Kalimantan, but also from other countries and provinces," Abang Amien Thaha, chairman of the West Kalimantan Malay Culture Council, said here on Friday.
He said the festival was aimed at preserving the Malay culture and traditions for the next generations.
The festival will be highlighted with seminar on Malay dresses and traditions, an exhibition, and Malay song performances.
Malaysia will send a 30-member delegation to the festival, and Brunei will be represented by two experts.
