Medvedev visits Yandex`s American office, Apple.
PALO ALTO, California, June 24 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev visited the American division of the Russian company Yandex.
Located in Silicon Valley, Yandex Labs is engaged in research,
including the improvement of existing search engines and introduction of
new technologies.
Yandex Director-General Arkady Volozh and Yandex Labs Head Arkady
Borkovsky took Medvedev on a tour of the company.
Yandex Labs is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yandex that was founded in
2008 in Bay area, with the objective of fostering innovation in search and
advertising technology. Today, it employs senior research scientists and
engineers with a wealth of research and development experience in the top
US search engine companies, such as Yahoo! and Google.
Members of Yandex Labs work in close coordination with other Yandex
teams helping them solve the challenging problems in Web crawl, indexing,
learning to rank areas, as well as fight with spam, pornographic and low
quality content. People at Yandex Labs are passionate about their work,
and they appreciate the agile development environment in which the bright
idea today could be in production tomorrow, enabling better Web search
experience for millions of users. Yandex Labs also contributes to research
community with publications describing advances in search technology at
the major conferences, such as WWW, SIGIR, CIKM, WSDM, KDD, ICML, NIPS.

technologies. The meeting was held behind the closed doors.
