UNIFIED CENTER OPENS TO COORDINATE ROAD TRAFFIC


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Monday to open a new control center of road traffic. The center opens in Ulaanbaatar in frames of the project on optimum system of road transport implemented with a long-term soft loan from the S.Korean Economic Cooperation Fund.
Present at the ceremony were T.Bilegt, head of the Citizens' Representative Khural of the city, B.Monkhbaatar, the city's Deputy Mayor, Ch.Bat, a General Manager of the city, and the Ambassador of S.Korea to Mongolia.
In a scope of the project, a unified center has been established to control all traffic lights, installed at 46 road junctions together with control cameras. To record information on the roads, CCTV cameras have been installed in 26 junctions, video sensors--at 52 points to transfer to the central control system the information on traffic jams, cars' speed and load of vehicles. In addition, two electronic boards have been placed to give necessary information to drivers and pedestrians. The junctions equipped with traffic lights, CCTV cameras, sensors and boards have been connected with the unified central control system by fibre-optical cable.
