SCHOLARS MAKE SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A manager of the Bio-physics Department of Mongolia's State University's (MSU) Faculty of Biology P.Enkhbayar, a manager of the MSU's Faculty of Ecology B.Boldgiv and a Japanese professor Norio Matsushima have made a scientific discovery. An article about the discovery was published last month in the "Protein" scientific journal under a title "Omega Helices in Proteins".
The discovery has confirmed that the Omega spiral which might be one of the forms of Alfa spiral exists in protein. Thanks to the discovery, the Mongolian scholars confirmed the hypothesis about the Alfa and Pi-shaped spirals existing in protein that was put forward in 1951 by double Nobel Prize winner Linus Carl Pauling and other scholars.
