Omsk invites compatriots in Germany to move to Siberia.

OMSK, June 20 (Itar-Tass) -- The government of Russia's Omsk Region
will present its programme of support for compatriots wishing to move in
from abroad.
The presentation, due on June 25 in Germany's Frankfurt on the Main,
will be made by "civil organizations and coordination committees of former
Russian Germans from different parts of Germany," the first deputy
chairman of Omsk government, Andrei Besshtanko, said on Saturday.
"Over ten months of the programme, the Irtysh territory of our region
has attracted 360 compatriots from different countries of the works - they
have filed their applications for moving in," he said. "85 have already
become residents of Siberia."
"We plan to provide more detailed information mostly in places where
former Soviet and Russian citizens live," he added.
They are mostly able-bodied people and a half of them are between 20
and 35, others are under 50. Most of them have university or college
degrees, Besshtanko said.
Russia's 20 constituent territories take part in the federal programme
- the Compatriots. Under the programme, the federal government will
support families which choose to move back to Russia. The biggest feedback
came from Russian-speaking residents of the CIS countries, especially in
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and Tajikistan.
The Omsk Region has the third biggest ethnic group of Germans,
attracts the biggest number of Russia's compatriots.
