NEW INDONESIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO QUEEN ELIZABETH II



London, July 18 (ANTARA) - By using a horse-driven carriage, Indonesian new ambassador to the United Kingdom Yuri Octavian Thamrin went to Backingham Palace in London to present his credentials to the Queen Elizebeth II on Thursday.

While it was drizzling inLondon, from the Indonesian Embassy in in Grosvernor Square to Buckingham Palace, Ambassador Yuri Thamrin was accompanied by his wife Risandrani Thamrin dan Protocol Chief of the British Kingdom Sir Anthony Figgis.

Exactly at 11:41 local time, the carriage of the British Kingdom along with officials wearing rain coats came to Indonesian embassy, near the American embassy, to pick up Ambassador Yuri and his wife.

Earlier, Ambassador Yuri Thamrin received Sir Anthony Figges along with four other diplomats who will introduce the ambassador to the Queen.

The trip to Buckingham Palace took 15 minutes and Ambassador Yuri was received by senior officials of the British Foreign Ministry at the Grand Hall before entering a special room to present his credentials to Queen Elizabeth II.

"Your majesty, I bring the warm greetings of the Indonesian President of Indonesia and hope for your personal well being as well as the wellbeing of the people of the United Kingdom," Yuri said, adding: "I am glad to note that the United Kingdom and Indonesia have enjoyed a long friendship and cordial ties. It is my commitment to promote the bilateral ties between the two countries in all areas of mutual benefit."
In the meantime, the queen also congratulated Yuri Thamrin as the new Indonesian ambassador to the United Kingdom and hoped that the diplomatic relations between the two countries could be further enhanced in the years to come.
