Pakistan to host regional economic cooperation conference



Islamabad, July 18 (PPI) - Pakistan will host third Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan, likely on August 26-27 in Islamabad.

A follow-up of Kabul Conference of December 2005 and New Delhi Conference of November, 2006 it will discuss economic development in Afghanistan in particular and the region in general.

It will be attended by delegates of 11 regional states, G-8 countries and international organisations including UN, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Economic Cooperation Organization.

Areas selected for Islamabad Conference agenda are mining, energy, infrastructure, health, labour movement, human resource development, overland trade and transit issues between countries and regions.
