Commemoration service held for late Imam at Montenegro Book Fair

Belgrade, June 19, IRNA – Serbian translation of Hamid Ansari’s new book Hadith-e Bidari (Story of Alertness), translated by Melina Radolovic was unveiled at 5th Podgoritca Int’l Book Exhibition, to commemorate Imam Khomeini’s demise Friday evening.

A commemoration service was simultaneously held in the presence of a group of Montenegrin lovers of the Iranian culture, including the Bosniac Muslims representative at the Montenegrin Parliament Solio Mustific, MP Nejad Derishvic, the head of Tozi City’s Islamic Society Kamal Dreshovic, and some other Montenegrin academic and cultural personalities.

A professor of Podgoritca University’s Faculty of Philosophy Sherio Rastoder and a number of students of that university’s Faculty of Laws, too, were present at the unveiling ceremony of the book and the commemoration service of Imam Khomeini (P).

The Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Belgrade in his address on the history of the Islamic Revolution of Iran elaborated on the key role played by the late Imam (P) at entire phases of the Islamic Revolution.

He referred to the early years of the Islamic Revolution of Iran after the end of the Word War II and the events of the year 1963 in which the hated Pahlavi regime committed crimes, such as massacring lots of innocent protestors who were rallying to voice their objection to arresting of their beloved leader, Imam Khomeini (P), as a sample of that role playing.

He then referred to the story of the city and village councils and the capitulation bill, about both the late Imam had strongly voiced his objection, his emphasis that the country’s laws needed to be in accordance with the Islamic jurisprudence, and his resolute anti-imperialist approach as important aspects of his great personality.

A documentary on the history of the Islamic Revolution, dubbed into the Serbian language as well as parts of another documentary on the scientific and general personality of the late Imam that were screened for the audience on the opening day, and would be screened there throughout the exhibition’s duration.

Iran’s stand at the exhibition is among the most visited stands every year due to the diversity of the book genres presented there, as well as the handicrafts, the photographs and the posters presented both for observation and for sale to the enthusiasts.

A consultant at the Montenegrin Police Ministry and member of the regional Muslims Association, Hamdi Sharkinovic, who was visiting Iran’s booth along with his family members told IRNA, “Iran’s stand at Montenegro International Book Exhibition shines like a gem, as has shone every year at this annual cultural event.”/end
