TURKISH NATIONAL AIRLINER TO FLY TO EYPTIAN PORT CITY

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 17.06.2010 - Turkey's national airliner will fly to an Egyptian port city, a company statement said on Thursday.
Turkish Airlines (THY) will launch direct flights between the Turkish city of Istanbul and Egyptian port city of Alexandria on June 19.
Alexandria will be the second destination THY will fly in Egypt, following the capital of Cairo.
With Alexandria flights, THY's international destinations will rise to 124.
THY will fly between the two cities four days a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Return tickets will cost 266 Euro and above, including taxes and duties.
Based in Istanbul, Turkish Airlines is one of the fastest growing and prosperous airlines in the world. It carries approximately 25 million passengers a year, with direct flights to 124 international and 37 domestic destinations.     
The airline was founded in 1933 with a fleet of five airplanes that carried a total of 28 passengers. The airline made its first domestic flight in 1933 and the first international flight in 1947.     
THY posted 389 million Euro of profit in 2009, becoming the top five airline companies following Air China and Ryan Air in the world that recorded the highest profit in 2009.         
The airliner carried 6.2 million passengers in the first quarter of 2010. The number of business class and transit passengers in international lines was up 32 and 37 percent respectively in the mentioned period.
