2 Chita police sentenced for beating citizens.
ULAN-UDE, June 17 (Itar-Tass) - Two Chita police officers were given
long prison terms for beating patients at a sobering-up station, the press
service of the Transbaikalia prosecutor's office told Itar-Tass on
Wednesday.
Alexander Bokhin will serve eight years and his colleague Maxim
Genatulin -- 6.5 years in maximum-security penitentiaries.
Chita's Ingodinsky district court found the police office guilty of
abusing their office powers, and using violence on citizens and beating
them.
"The police beat up two citizens, and Blokhin then walloped another
two citizens brought to the detoxication center," senior aide to the
Ingodinsky district prosecutor Yelena Gnedich said.
"The defendants denied wrongdoing both during the preliminary
investigation and the inquest, but the crime has been proven by the sum of
evidence," the prosecutor said.
