Yemen higher education experience presented in France

SANA'A, June 16 (Saba)-
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Saleh Ba-Surrah reviewed, in
the French
city of Marcella, on Wednesday the latest developments witnessed in Yemen in the
field of higher education and scientific research.
In his speech in front of the international conference on Education Quality and its
Adjustment with the Labor Market, he said that Yemen currently has 16 government
universities
out of which 7 still under construction with a total of 250 thousand students.
He pointed out Yemen efforts to cope with the technology boom through network
connection of the universities which cost $16 million, in addition to the project
of reframing
the higher education sector.
The minister also spoke over the current efforts exerted by the government of Yemen
in improving quality of higher education and upgrading its outputs, noting Yemen's
need
for support for such efforts from the donor organizations and countries, topped by
the World Bank which approved support at $13 million for this end.
He affirmed concern of Yemen to benefit from the international experiences in the
field of quality programs and academic accreditation as well as realizing harmony
between
the educational outputs and the labor market.
Worth to mention that the conference was concluded today with the participation of
more than 30 countries from the Middle East and north Africa, in addition to a
number
of donor organizations and countries.
