Situation in Osh tends to stabilise - national security service.
BISHKEK, June 16 (Itar-Tass) -- The situation in Kyrgyzstan's Osh,
where mass disorders started, has a tendency for stabilising, the press
service of Kyrgyzstan's National Security Service said on Wednesday.
At the same time, "destructive forces undertake efforts to destabilise
the situation, cause panic and to resume the ethnic clashes," the press
service said.
"The events of the last days show that armed people provoking these
clashes are professionals, who know how to use various weapons, masking
and concealing."
There were cases when antitank grenade launchers were used in
different parts of the regional centre.
"When the investigators went there, they spotted the location from
where the firing was made, but the subversive group was not found," the
press service said.
A blocking station detained two cars in which two self-made explosive
devices were transported. The special mission units liberated eleven
hostages, including women and children, and stopped marauding groups of
youngsters. Criminal cases were opened and investigation is going on.
"We continue to inform the residents and explain the situation to
them," the security service said. "We have agreed with the residents of
the Nariman village that the police will guard the EMERCOM's oil base
which they had seized."
Vehicles are being inspected, weapons and toxic agent are being
confiscated in the city.
