CASSAVA POWDER EXPORTED
(KPL) A local factory that produces cassava powder has recently exported 340 tonnes of its product to China. This is the country's first such a factory and it started production on June 19.
The factory plans to export as much as 1,500 tonnes of cassava powder
monthly.
The production and export of this product is helping Lao cassava growers to get a steady income.
The cassava powder is being used in the production of milk products,
biscuits, instant noodles, Chinese vermicelli, MSG - flavour enhancer, and glue.
It is also used in certain types of medication and another medical
usage is that it is included in the plaster of Paris (for mending broken or fractured bones).
