'Drug overdosed' commando flown home

An Australian commando who suffered a suspected drug overdose while serving in
Afghanistan has been flown home.
Defence said the soldier, initially treated in a US military hospital in Germany,
has returned to Australia "for further medical treatment".
The results of drug tests subsequently carried out on all members of the Special
Operations Task Group won't be released for "some weeks".
But Defence has promised to be transparent.
"Private D remains in a serious condition and is being closely monitored," Defence
said in a statement on Tuesday.
"However, his clinical condition has improved."
Defence force vice chief Lieutenant General David Hurley says the commando is being
supported by his family.
"He's in a satisfactory and stable position with his family in a hospital at the
present time," General Hurley told reporters in Canberra.
The private was found unconscious in his room at the Australian base at Tarin Kowt
on May 28.
A search of his room uncovered a bottle of pills and white powder thought to be an
opiate. All 300 members of the Special Operations Task Group subsequently underwent
drug testing.
On Tuesday, General Hurley was asked if any soldiers had put their hand up before
the results had come back.
"Nothing like that's occurred," he said.
Defence says the test results won't be known "until full analysis is complete".
"That process is likely to take some weeks," a spokeswoman told AAP in a statement.
"(But) Defence will be transparent on this matter, noting the privacy and
medical-in-confidence nature of this incident
"The results of the tests and any findings or actions resulting from these tests
will be made public."
