South Korea's Hankuk University decorated Turkey's President Abdullah Gul with an honorary doctorate for his active role in international affairs and contributions to Turkey-South Korea relations.
"Turkey is proceeding to become one of leading global actors in the world, with its economy ranked the 16th in the world and 6th in Europe, with its nearly 1 trillion USD Gross National Product (GNP), emerging market and young population," Gul said during the ceremony at the university.
Gul is paying a four-day formal visit to the South Korean capital of Seoul. President Gul said Turkey was broadening its horizons to the East, South Asia, Africa, Latin America and Pacific countries.
Gul said today's multi-polar world order required more and efficient cooperation, dialogue and integration, and global economy management and international finance organizations urgently needed reforms.
