TS.ELBEGDORJ MEETS UZBEKISTAN PRESIDENT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj met June 10 with his counterpart from the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Islam Karimov in Tashkent city, Uzbekistan.
The latter thanked Mr. Elbegdorj for attending the high level consultative meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and spoke about initiatives and works Uzbekistan has done during its chairmanship of the SCO in 2009-2010. Then the dignitaries shared views on the cooperation between Mongolia and Uzbekistan.
Mr. Karimov said the two landlocked countries both are rich in mining resources and have an opportunity to develop mutually-beneficial collaboration in exchanging information in this sphere. He introduced to the Mongolian President measures and experiences in abolishing the dependence on foods, natural gas and fuel, developing national production and in increasing the cotton export.
The sides also talked about situation and cooperation of neighbor countries and central Asian region.
In his turn, Mr. Elbegdorj expressed a gratitude for inviting him to the SCO's meeting, and said the two countries may cooperate in researching historical material objects and sources, exchanging scholars, in the agricultural sector. Mr. Elbegdorj suggested the Uzbekistan side to prepare for establishing necessary documents running in negotiating level, in view of creating a legal basis to forward the bilateral relations. He noted that, as for landlocked countries, Mongolia and Uzbekistan have possibilities of cooperating at international arena, sharing their experiences in boosting national industry and mining sector.
Mongolia's President invited Mr. Karimov to visit Mongolia.
