NUMBER OF BIRTHS INCREASES
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In the first five months of 2010, the number of live births increased by 149 to 27,957, whereas the number of mothers delivered children increased by 127 or 0.5 per cent to 27,854 against the previous year.
According to Ministry of Health, births per 1,000 people was 10.1, the death per 1,000 people was 2.7, and the natural increase per 1,000 people was 7.4 in the first five months of 2010.
In this period, infant mortality increased 30 or 5.0 per cent to 625, child mortality aged 1-5 increased 94 or 2.2 times to 174, respectively. The number of maternal deaths decreased 12 to 11 against the same period of the previous year.
