Policeman killed, 2 pedestrians gravely injured in Dagestan.



MAKHACHKALA, June 14 (Itar-Tass) -- A policeman was killed and two
pedestrians were hospitalized with severe wounds after the shootout in the
Dagestani city of Khasavyurt on Sunday. "The incident occurred at about
19.00 Moscow time in Tolstoy Street," the press service of the Dagestani
Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.
"A policeman from the special task force of the Khasavyurt district
police was on the way back home, when unidentified gunmen opened automatic
fire from a car driving nearby. The policeman died instantaneously, two
pedestrians sustained severe gunshot wounds and were brought to the
intensive therapy ward at the city hospital," the press service said.
The search operation for the criminals is underway.

.Ukraine offers Russia, Kazakhstan to produce uranium jointly.

KIEV, June 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Ukraine is ready to establish close
cooperation with Russia and Kazakhstan in uranium production, Ukrainian
President Viktor Yanukovich told the television channel Inter on Sunday.
He also noted that Kiev is in talks on the development of uranium
production with these two countries. "Kazakhstan is a stockholder of a
uranium enrichment plant in the Russian city of Angarsk. We are ready to
be the third party - a co-founder and a co-owner of the uranium enrichment
plant in Angarsk, because just this enterprise delivers the nuclear fuel
to our country," Yanukovich pointed out.
"As far as the construction of a similar uranium enrichment plant in
Ukraine is concerned, we also proposed to implement this project through
the efforts of three countries, because we cannot do it alone. We are
interested to be a stockholder and a co-owner of this plant, which will
deliver the nuclear fuel not only for reactors, but also to Europe," the
president elaborated.
He noted that Russia would allocate a two-billion-dollar loan for the
construction of two power units of the Khmelnitsk nuclear power plant.
"There are three projects, in which we are cooperating actively. This
is the construction of power units for the Khmelnitsk and Rovno nuclear
power plants, as well as the construction of a nuclear fuel producing
plant," the Ukrainian president underlined.

.Kyrgyz interim govt to fire law enforcers for breaching orders.

BISHKEK, June 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Kyrgyz interim chief Roza Otunbayeva
signed a Sunday decree, under which servicemen and law enforcers, who
refuse to fulfill orders of the military commandants, will be fired, the
press service of the Kyrgyz interim government told Itar-Tass.
"This decree was issued to ensure security of people, stabilize the
situation as soon as possible, restore the lawfulness and the law and
order in several regions of the country, where the state of emergency was
declared," the press service reported. The Kyrgyz leadership acknowledged
that "some law enforcers violate and do not obey to the lawful orders and
demands made by a military commandant of the region, where the state of
emergency was declared." Therefore, servicemen of the Defence Ministry,
the Interior Troops, policemen, staffers of the State National Security
Service and other law enforcement agencies, who were dispatched to the
regions, where the state of emergency was declared, "will be dismissed
without the right for reinstatement" for breaching orders.
"For unlawful actions or idleness in the performance of service
duties, the improper performance of service duties on the territory, where
the state of emergency was declared, staffers of the foresaid law
enforcement agencies bear responsibility under the domestic legislation,"
the decree, which entered into force since its signing, runs.
The state of emergency and the curfew were declared in the regional
center of Osh, the district center of Uzgen, the Aravan and Kara-Sui
districts and in the whole Jalal-Abad Region. Massive disorders and
interethnic clashes broke out earlier between ethnic Kyrgyzs and ethnic
Uzbeks in these settlements and territories. Massive riots killed 113
people, including servicemen and policemen, about 1.4 thousand people
sought medical aid.

.FC speaker to visit Argentina to develop interparliamentary ties.

BUENOS-AIRES, June 14 (Itar-Tass) -- Federation Council Speaker Sergei
Mironov will arrive in Argentina on Monday to discuss the development of
interparliamentary relations among other issues.
Mironov will have meetings with Argentinean President Cristina
Fernandez de Kirchner and speaker of the upper house of the National
Congress and Vice-President Julio Cobos. Sergei Mironov will discuss with
the Argentinean leadership how the agreements, which had been reached
during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to this South American
country in April 2010, are being fulfilled.
Alongside, the Federation Council speaker will discuss broader trade
and economic cooperation with leading Argentinean businessmen and members
of the Argentina-Russia Business Council. Mironov will meet with Russian
compatriots in Argentina to discuss the problems of preserving the Russian
language in the Russian diaspora and the mutual recognition of secondary
and higher education diplomas. He will also give a lecture in the
Argentinean Council for International Relations on Russia's foreign policy
in the conditions of shaping a multi-polar world.
In Argentina Sergei Mironov will sign an agreement on cooperation
between the Russian Federal Assembly and the parliament of the Common
Market of the South (MERCOSUR). This major South American trading bloc
brings together Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Venezuela is
passing the MERCOSUR accession procedure. Argentina is holding the
rotating presidency in MERCOSUR.
Russia participated in a MERCOSUR summit in December 2003. At the
summit Russia and the MERCOSUR bloc signed a joint statement on
establishing political cooperation. The first meeting at the level of
deputy ministers in Uruguay in 2007 was an important event in the
development of Russia-MERCOSUR relations.
