91 detained in Tehran on presidential poll anniversary: police
TEHRAN, June 14 (MNA) – 91 suspects were arrested in Tehran on the anniversary of the June 12 presidential election, Tehran police chief announced on Sunday.
“Yesterday (Saturday), no special incident was reported, (but) 91 suspects were arrested and handed over to related judicial bodies,” Hossein Sajedinia said.
Opposition leaders and reformist parties had earlier announced that they have applied for holding a rally on the anniversary of the presidential election, but later called off the rally because the Interior Minister did not issue permission for the gathering.
However, according to the Tabnak website, some small protests and sporadic clashes were reported around the capital.
