Ousted Bakiyev denies involvement in south Kyrgyzstan disorders.

MINSK, June 13 (Itar-Tass) - The ousted President of Kyrgyzstan,
Kurmanbek Bakiyev, has denied his involvement in the disorders in the
south of the country and called for stopping the bloodshed.
"The Kyrgyz Republic today is on the verge of losing its statehood.
People are dying, and nobody from the current power officials is capable
of protecting them," Belarusian mass media quoted Bakiyev's statement
released on Sunday.
According to him, "Instead of timely mobilising all the needed
resources for the localisation of the conflict, officials of the interim
government are giving interviews and holding press conferences in order to
once again smear me and my relatives accusing us of complicity in the
disorders in the south."
"I state with responsibility that this is a barefaced lie! Let God be
their judge! I'm sure that history will get all this straightened out and
the truth will triumph all the same," the statement says.
Bakiyev noted that it is not the time now "for throwing stones at each
other." "Blood is being shed and it is necessary to exert every effort to
stop the bloodshed," he said. The ousted president of Kyrgyzstan also
calls on the compatriots "not to yield to provocations and calls of
irresponsible politicians."
"The Kyrgyz people are great with their wisdom, patience and
tolerance! We could always find common language with all ethnic groups
living on our land. Only the people's will can save Kyrgyzstan today," he
stressed.
Kurmanbek Bakiyev in April got an asylum in Belarus.
