Pakistani journalist terms UN curbs on Iran, unjust

Islamabad, June 12, IRNA -- Pakistani journalist Mazhar Abbas condemned the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council on Iran's nuclear program calling them unjust.

Talking to IRNA on Friday, he said the basic problem is that of the American foreign policy which has double standards. “It is flawed policy”, he added.

Expressing his opinion, the journalist said that the US foreign policy is not only confined to Muslim countries but to all those countries which are going against the American policy such as Korea.

The journalist was of the opinion that US imposes sanctions or calls terrorists to all those countries which do not yield to its pressure.

Mazhar Abbas condemning the US strategy said that they never say anything against Israel. “The reason for increasing militancy in the world is the dual American policy”, he viewed.

“US targets all those enlightened countries that voice against Israel”, he stated.
The journalist maintained that the US has always followed a biased policy towards Iran.

He stressed upon the need to address concerns of Iran regarding its nuclear programme instead of opting the path of sanctions.

“Why Israel is allowed to develop its nuclear programme”, he asked.

Mazhar Abbas criticized the role of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding Iran’s nuclear programme terming it as highly biased. “It has been towing the American policy”, he noted.

The analyst said unfortunately the attitude of Muslim world towards the American pressure is divided. “Though they condemn American policies against Islamic world, there is a need of collective effort against imperialism”, the journalist opined.

He feared that the militancy would increase if US continues to follow double standards.

Giving his opinion over the fallout of sanctions, Mazhar Abbas said that upto certain extent they would hit the Iranian economy.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to stand with Iran in difficult times adding that it would be very unfortunate if Muslim community does not support Iran.

“Yes the sanctions do have fall out on education and health sectors”, he said replying to a query. “We have to wait and see how Iran would react to this unfair move”, added the analyst.

“Muslim world has to come forward and help Iran economically and politically”, said the journalist./end
