SEVEN INDOSESIAN STUDENTS RECEIVE SINGAPORE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Jakarta, July 16 (ANTARA) - Seven outstanding Indonesian students have received Singapore Scholarship awards to pursue undergarduate studies at Singapore's National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
Singapore Ambassador to Indonesia Ashok Mirpuri presented the awards to the recipients at a ceremony at the Singapore Embassy here on Wednesday, the embassy's press release made available to ANTARA said.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ashok encouraged the students to further their educational passions and interests while in Singapore.
He noted that during their time in the country, the Indonesian students could build close links and bonds with fellow students from Singapore and other ASEAN countries.
Ambassador Ashok also said that Singapore would like to see them return home at the end of their studies to contribute to Indonesia's development.
The students will begin their studies in August 2008.
Since the inception of the Singapore scholarship in 1999, more than 70 Indonesian students have benefitted from this programme which is also offered to all ASEAN countries.
