TASHKENT, June 11 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said
the pilot projects in the fields of power generation, transport and high
technologies should be given priority support in the Shanghai Cooperation
Organization.
"We need to develop energy dialogue, and not only that. We must
develop new technologies because it is important that we're jointly
working on science intensive innovation projects, in particular in the
field of high-tech communications systems. In this, all the initiatives
must be supported," Medvedev stated at the SCO summit in Tashkent on
Friday.
He also called for developing transport infrastructure within the SCO
framework, including international logistics centers in the zone of the
responsibility of this organization.
Speaking about humanitarian cooperation of SCO member-states, Medvedev
said a special SCO university would start functioning in pilot mode. The
university pools the efforts or a number of leading educational
institutions of SCO members. The Russian president proposed to expand the
opportunities of this university by attracting the potential of observer
states and dialogue partners.
