State of emergency introduced in Kyrgyz city Osh

BISHKEK, June 11 (Itar-Tass) - A state of emergency has been
introduced in the second largest city of Kyrgyzstan - Osh, the press
service of the republic's interim government told Itar-Tass on Friday.
The interim government has gathered for an extraordinary meeting in
the capital Bishkek. It appointed First Deputy Interior Minister Bakytbek
Alymbekov the commandant of Osh. Special envoy of the interim government
for the settlement of the situation in the south Ismail Isakov said that
mass fist fights between local youth groups have resulted in pogroms and
arsons of buildings.
Explosions of stun grenades and sirens of fire engines have been heard
in the centre of the city. There have been no immediate reports about
casualties of the conflict. Armoured equipment and units of the Interior
Troops have been brought in Osh.
