Vietnam's e-Gov index increases 16 points
HCM City (VNA) - A national ICT report has said that Vietnam's information communication technology (ICT) indexes have markedly increased, improving the country's position on the world IT map.
The latest report of the United Nations Online Network on Public
Administration and Finance (UNPAN) showed that Vietnam 's e-government (e-Gov) index increased 16 points as the country ranks 91st among 182 countries.
In the region, Vietnam surpassed Indonesia to the sixth position after Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Brunei.
Other indexes of Vietnam such as Knowledge Index, the Knowledge
Economy Index, and Network Readiness Index also increased 3 and 9 points, respectively.
According to reports by BSA and IDC, the rate of copyright violations in Vietnam reduced by 3 percent this year from last year's 85 percent. As a result, Vietnam , which topped software copyright violation countries, has dropped from the list of the top nine countries to have highest rates of software copyright violations.
With 23.5 percent of the population using Internet (about 20 million people), Vietnam has also exceeded the world average level of Internet subscribers (16.9 percent of the population), ranking 17th among the top 20 counties in terms of Internet users.
Citing great confidence in Vietnam's IT market which obtained an annual growth rate of 15 percent, President of the International Digital Group (IDG) Patrick McGovern said that by training workers to be more skilled in IT and promoting creativeness in IT services, Vietnam will attract increasing number of investors.
