TURKEY'S FIRST NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN TO OPEN IN ATATURK FOREST FARM


ANKARA (A.A) - 09.06.2010 - Turkey's first national and accredited botanical garden will be established in Ataturk Forest Farm (AOC) in Ankara.
The garden will be located in AOC field on Ankara-Eskisehir road, and completed within 5-6 years.
The National Botanical Garden project, which will cost 150 million Turkish lira, was presented to State Planning Organization.
The garden will be established on 2,000 hectares of area.  
There will be picnic areas and social facilities in the garden which will be operated and directed by AOC.
Research and development studies will also be made in the garden.
National Botanical Garden will be internationally accredited in the aspects of its content and size which means that it can be visited as a touristic place.
Local plants as well as other plants from different parts of the world are raised in botanical gardens by providing appropriate greenhouses. Also, animals which can live in that climate are raised in these gardens.
