TURKISH AIRPORTS CORPORATION TO CONSTRUCT TERMINAL IN LATVIA
ISTANBUL (A.A) - 09.06.2010 - A Turkish airport construction and management corporation will construct a new terminal building in Latvia, a company statement said.
Turkey's Tepe-Akfen-Vie Airports Holding Corporation (TAV) has signed a contract to construct and manage the new terminal building at the Riga International Airport.
TAV will establish a 50-50 percent joint venture with AirBaltic in the project.
Established in 1997, as a joint venture between Tepe and Akfen Groups following their successful bid for the Istanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal Contract, TAV has undertaken the construction and operation of three major airports in Turkey (Istanbul Ataturk, Ankara Esenboga and Izmir Adnan Menderes Airports) and the Tbilisi and Batumi Airports in Georgia, Enfida and Monastere Airports in Tunisia and with over 11,000 employees TAV is realising projects at world class.
TAV Airports Holding has 12 companies, it is operating in ground handling services, operation services, duty free shops, food and beverage services, IT and security services, which are complementary to airport operations.
TAV Airports serve 285,000 flights by 300 airline companies every year, with 27 million passengers on average. With this capacity, TAV Airports is among the leading airport operators in the world.
In February 2007, it made 18.4 percent of its shares public. It posted 31.9 million Turkish liras (19.9 million USD) of consolidated net loss for the first quarter of 2010.
AirBaltic flew to 80 destinations, served 2.8 million passengers in 2009, whereas the Riga International Airport hosted 4.1 million passengers.
