MOSCOW, June 9 (Itar-Tass) -- A Shanghai Cooperation Organization
(SCO) summit, which will be held on June 10-11 in Tashkent, is not
planning to adopt a separate statement on the situation in Kyrgyzstan, a
source in the Kremlin Executive Office told reporters.
"A separate statement on the current situation in Kyrgyzstan is not
planned so far, but it is not ruled out that if there are suggestions to
issue such a statement it may be made," he said. "I think it will be right
to make some statements on this issue after the elections in this
country," the source added.
Alongside, Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko noted that the
SCO summit "will give close attention" to the situation in Kyrgyzstan.
"Acting Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev will represent Kyrgyzstan in
Tashkent in accordance with the position, the SCO states agreed upon," he
pointed out.
"The SCO reaction to the dramatic events in Kyrgyzstan followed
urgently and immediately," Prikhodko said. "On April 8, 2010, SCO
Secretary General Muratbek Imanaliyev has made a statement on behalf of
the SCO states, which reflected concerns over the development of the
situation in Kyrgyzstan that entailed casualties," the Russian
presidential aide noted. "Currently the measures to promote the settlement
in Kyrgyzstan, joint efforts on the support and the necessary assistance
to the Kyrgyz people are being discussed," Prikhodko said.
