Japanese training ship calls at Russian Nakhodka port on friendly visit.

VLADIVOSTOK, June 9 (Itar-Tass) -- The Japanese training ship Mizunagi
of the Kyoto Prefectural Kaiyo Marine High School on Wednesday called at
the Russian Far Eastern port of Nakhodka on a friendly visit.
During their two-day stay in Russia, the Japanese students will visit
the Far Eastern Naval School, which also trains personnel for the fishing
fleet. They will also visit museums, attend concerts and sports
competitions.
Mizunagi's visit opens the summer season of exchange of delegations
between Nakhodka and its twin cities in the Asia Pacific region. According
to Irina Shcherbina, an aide to the city mayor for international
relations, a delegation of schoolchildren from the South Korean city Dong
Hae will visit Nakhodka in mid-July, and schoolchildren from Nakhodka will
pay a response visit to Dong Hae in early August.
A delegation from Japan's Tsurugi will arrive in Nakhodka also in
July, while the children's choir Raduga (Rainbow) from Nakhodka will visit
Japan.

.Hillary Clinton says Iran will face the toughest ever sanctions.

WASHINGTON, June 9 (Itar-Tass) -- A new draft U.N. Security Council
resolution on Iran due for vote on Wednesday provides for the toughest
sanctions Tehran has ever faced, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
told a news conference in Ecuador's Quito on Tuesday.
"These are the most significant sanctions that Iran has ever faced,"
she said. "The amount of unity that has been engendered by the
international community is very significant."
She refused, however, to predict the voting results, saying: "I'm not
going to comment on something that hasn't occurred yet."

.Russian State Duma to hear energy minister's report.

MOSCOW, June 9 (Itar-Tass) -- The Russian State Duma lower parliament
house on Wednesday will hear the report of the Minister of Energy Sergei
Shmatko on the issues of security at energy facilities and ways to boost
energy-efficiency in the country.
"We have a lot of questions to the minister," particularly about the
impacts of the recent accidents at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower
plant and the Raspadskaya coalmine on the country's energy strategy, Duma
speaker Boris Gryzlov told reporters. "These accident have once again
proved the acuteness of the problem. It is vital that the general security
level at power engineering facilities is considerably enhanced and the
burden of expenses required to modernize the sector is not laid entirely
on consumers," he noted. He also called for "more daring tasks in the area
of alternative power engineering."

.Second European Coin-2010 conference opens in St Petersburg.

ST. PETERSBURG, June 9 (Itar-Tass) -- The 2nd European conference
Coins-2010, the only one in Russia dedicated to commemorative coins, opens
here on Wednesday.
The conference will be attended by more than 180 delegates from 28
world nations. Organizers of the conference attribute such wide interest
to the growing demand for commemorative medals on the expanding Russian
coin market.
The two-day forum is expected to hear representative from the Bank of
Russia and the Goznak state unitary enterprise responsible for the
production of coins and banknotes. Specialists from foreign central banks
and mints, Russian bankers and coin distributors, representative from the
Russian Museum and numismatic societies will also take part.
The forum will discuss specifics of the coin market, up-to-date coin
production technologies, basic design tendencies, marketing and
advertising strategies.
A workshop on promoting commemorative coins in retail trade will be
held within the forum's framework. One of the sessions will focus on
numismatics.
The conference will also feature an exhibition of modern commemorative
coins from around the globe. Up till now, such exhibitions were organized
only for specialists. Among the exhibition participants will be national
banks from Bulgaria, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan,
central banks of Armenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, mints from Hong
Kong, Australia, Spain, Great Britain, Poland, France, Andorra, Canada,
Finland, Austria, St. Petersburg, and Moscow. Visitors of the exhibition
will have an opportunity to buy some of the exhibits.
