Iran's Foreign Ministry summons Swiss envoy

Tehran, June 9, IRNA – Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the Swiss Ambassador to Tehran, Livia Leu Agosti on Tuesday.
The move follows after the publication of documents related to the abduction of Shahram Amiri by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and transferring him to the US.
According to the report of the Foreign Ministry Media Department, Director General for North and Central America Ali Akbar Reza'ei told Agosti that the US government is fully responsible for safeguarding Amiri's life and health conditions. He added that the act of abduction of the Iranian scholar is contrary to all international laws, human rights and the US obligations for conventions.
He called for preparing the ground for immediate and unconditionally returning Amiri to Iran.
Meanwhile, documents concerning the abduction of Shahram Amiri and a note of protest was presented to the Swiss ambassador.
The Swiss embassy performs US Interests Section in Iran, after ties with the US were severed following the 1979 embassy takeover in Tehran./end
