ISTANBUL, June 8 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
has called for boosting economic cooperation among member-states of the
Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia and
establishing the infrastructure of a common economic space in the region.
"Many regional organizations act on their own and do not coordinate
their actions with each other, which as a result makes their efforts less
effective," he told the summit of the Conference in Istanbul on Tuesday.
"At the same time we propose to focus on regional institutions'
cooperation in stronger trade, economic relations and infrastructure and
in promotion of integration and economic projects," Putin said.
"I believe that it is high time to take substantial measures to
establish the infrastructure of our common economic space, to modernize
economies, boost industrial and border cooperation, create new transport
routes, high-tech clusters and energy hubs," he said.
He described such large-scale projects as Blue Stream and South Stream
as "a real confidence-building measure" that brings countries together.
