KAZAKHSTAN AND AZERBAIJAN ANNOUNCE FEASIBILITY STUDY TENDER FOR TRANS-CASPIAN PROJECT

Baku, June 8 (AzerTAc). Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have signed an intergovernmental agreement to facilitate creation of a new oil transportation system across the Caspian Sea and the territory of Azerbaijan in June 2006.
KazMunayGas (KMG) of Kazakhstan and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have signed several agreements in order to create legal and commercial basis for the implementation of the Trans-Caspian Project (TCP). The participants of the Kashagan and Tengiz projects have already expressed their interest in the TCP.
SOCAR and KMG are committed to application of best industry practice and highest international standards to the Trans-Caspian Project.
Trans-Caspian System is intended for marine oil transportation from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan across the Caspian Sea to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan system and includes oil loading terminal on the Caspian shore of Kazakhstan, tankers and ships, oil offloading terminal on the Caspian shore of Azerbaijan, and connection facilities to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan system.
KMG-Transcaspian LLP (100% affiliate of KMG) and SOCAR established a Consortium with the aim to conduct Feasibility Study of the Trans-Caspian Project and hereby invite interested reputed companies to submit their applications for pre-qualification for the Feasibility Study development.
