President Ahmadinejad, Erdogan review bilateral ties

Istanbul, June 8, IRNA – Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Tuesday expressed satisfaction over the growing trend of Tehran-Ankara bilateral cooperation.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held on the sidelines of the two-day Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) which started in this Turkish city on Tuesday.
President Ahmadinejad expressed his deep regret over the massacre of a group of Turkish nationals as a result of the Zionists raid on the Gaza aid flotilla last week.
According to media reports, on May 31 in international waters, Israeli forces intercepted and took control of the six-ship aid convoy, which was carrying 10,000 tons of aid and hundreds of activists from several countries. At least 10 people were killed in the serious violence on one or more of the vessels.
The six-ship flotilla had 682 passengers from 42 countries.
Across the world, tens of thousands of people protested on the streets and several countries summoned Israel’s ambassadors.
Meanwhile, the Turkish premier appreciated Iran’s key role in the settlement of regional problems.
He also lauded Iran’s active participation in the ongoing CICA conference.
During the meeting, the two officials voiced readiness for further expansion of all-out relations between the two states at bilateral, regional and international levels.
