Ivanov discusses stronger military cooperation in Malaysia

MOSCOW, June 7 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Sergei
Ivanov has met in Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia's Defence Minister Ahmad
Zahid Hamidi to discuss political and economic cooperation as well as
prospects for the development of military and technical cooperation, the
deputy PM's secretariat said on Monday.
"During the talks the officials stressed, Russian-Malaysian relations
are based on common and harmonious approaches to the creation of a
multipolar world, which creates the favourable groundwork for productive
cooperation in international affairs," the source said.
"Our countries actively promote a dialogue within the framework of the
United Nations, the Russia-ASEAN format, the ASEAN Regional Forum, the
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and other multilateral mechanisms," the
secretariat said.
