NATIONAL FORUM OF WOMEN HELD

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ National forum of Mongolian women titled "Women-Human development" ran on June 4-5 in the Government House under auspices of the Premier. It convened some 500 women from the city and all aimags.
The Prime Minister and Head of the National Committee of Gender Equality S.Batbold noted at the opening of the forum that providing all Mongolians with jobs and income is one of the strategic goals of the government. Batbold said the government has started to take measures of ensuring the economic growth and supporting small and middle-sized production and employment in several stages. “Mongolia is on the edge of exploiting the Oyu tolgoi and Tavan tolgoi mineral deposits, constructing the biggest factories of gold, copper, iron and construction materials and building networks of auto roads, railways and energy. Capital from the mineral resources must be spent for women and their family and children,” said Batbold.
The Premier sounded letters of the President and Parliament Speaker to the gathered at the forum.
Representatives of the forum delivered reports and discussed issues on gender equality, human development, economics, and realization of development rights, socio-economic development, social formation, democratic governance and political participation. A document issued from the forum will be submitted to the President, Parliament Speaker, MPs and leaders of political parties.
