ASHGABAT, June 6 (Itar-Tass) --Jeans labelled "Made in Turkmenistan"
are winning popular recognition in the United States, participants in an
international Turkmen textiles exhibition said on Sunday, the national Day
of Textile Industry.
The textile industry in Turkmenistan is second important industry
after oil and gas production. More than 70 percent of the country's
textiles output is exported. Moreover, world's famous firms, such as Levi'
s and Ikea, place orders at Turkmenistan-based production facilities.
Big textile complexes have been recently built in each of the country'
s provinces. It is also planned to build cotton-processing works in all
the country's cotton-growing regions.
The textile industry is one the most investment attractive ones in the
country. Foreign investments in the industry have reached 300 million U.S.
dollars in the recent decade out of more than one billion U.S. dollars
invested. It is planned to bring investments up to two billion U.S.
dollars by 2020.
