Thailand joins trade expo in Shanghai in bid to boost trade

SHANGHAI, June 6 (TNA) - Senior Commerce Ministry officials and logistics operators are participating in Thailand Trade Expo 2010 which has joined the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China in an attempt to boost Thailand’s exports and services in that country.

Led by Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot, the delegates arrived in Shanghai on Thursday and will stay in that city until Monday.

Thai goods displayed at Thailand Trade Expo 2010 are jasmine rice, fruits and juices, and snacks.

The Commerce Ministry projected that sales of Thai goods at the fair will amount to about Bt20 million while total sales for this year would be around Bt200 million.

Thailand Trade Expo 2010 which started in May will run through October, according to Mr Alongkorn, and about 150 Thai business operators will participate at the fair, boosting trade and investment between the two countries which will celebrate the 35th anniversary of trade and investment cooperation July 1.

During the visit, the Thai delegates will also meet with senior officials of the Shanghai Lingang Logistics Park and the Yangshan Deep-water Port on ways to increase trade between Thailand and Shanghai. (TNA)
