Iran FM heads for Jeddah for OIC urgent meeting
Tehran, June 6, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki departed for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Sunday morning to attend the emergency meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference on the Zionists raid on Gaza aid convoy.
The OIC foreign ministers are to confer the Monday savage attack of the Israeli forces on the aid flotilla to Gaza.
They will also hold talks on ways to react to this brutal attack.
The OIC has 57 members.
According to media reports, early Monday morning in international waters, Israeli forces intercepted and took control of the six-ship aid convoy, which was carrying 10,000 tons of aid and hundreds of activists from several countries. At least 10 people were killed in the serious violence on one or more of the vessels.
The six-ship flotilla had 682 passengers from 42 countries.
Across the world, tens of thousands of people protested on the streets and several countries summoned Israel’s ambassadors.
The international community has called for an impartial inquiry into the Israeli assault./end
