BEIJING, June 4 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will
visit China in late September 2010, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
said at the end of his official visit to Beijing on Friday.
"Medvedev's visit to China in late September will be a landmark event
in Russian-Chinese relations this year," the minister noted.
Alongside, "the prime ministers of Russia and China will hold their
15th meeting in autumn," Lavrov said. "Before the meeting joint
commissions and other agencies providing for bilateral cooperation in
concrete spheres will convene," Lavrov said.
The foreign minister recalled about the development of Russian-Chinese
parliamentary cooperation. "State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov visited China
in May, Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov is due to visit China in
autumn," he noted.
"Russia and China are interested in closer efforts of the business
quarters and in the recently formed Business Council put into full
operation," Lavrov said, adding, "A forthcoming St. Petersburg Economic
Forum will give a good opportunity for this soon."
"We agreed to use more actively the capabilities of the Shanghai
Cooperation Organization (SCO), which has all instruments to promote
development, security, stability and economic prosperity in Central Asia,"
Lavrov pointed out. "At an upcoming SCO summit in Tashkent we will come
out from common positions that a stronger role of this organization in
these issues is needed," the Russian foreign minister said.
