Poland`s coal barge makes first cruise through Vistula Bay.

KALININGRAD, June 3 (Itar-Tass) - Poland's barge loaded with 800
tonnes of Russian coal made its first cruise from Russia's westernmost
city of Kaliningrad to Poland's Elblag through the Vistula Bay (Lagoon),
the head of the Kaliningrad-based company Cargo Service, Sergei
Zavorotynsky, told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
The two countries signed an agreement to open the shipping through the
Vistula Bay last September.
In June cargo boats will bring 4,000 tonnes of Russian coal from
Kaliningrad to Elblag. Poland's backlog of orders for Russian coal has
already totalled 7,000-10,000 tonnes.
Before the shipping agreement was signed cargo ships sailed from
Kaliningrad to Poland through the Baltic Sea.
The Kaliningrad port administration says that the shipment of cargoes
through the Vistula Bay is economically effective for Polish consumers,
while the port receives additional volume of cargoes.
The Vistula Bay has been closed for foreign ships since 2006. It is
split between Russia's Kaliningrad region and Poland.
