Iran a powerful country in region, world: Sri Lankan envoy
Tehran, July 15, IRNA - Sri Lankan Ambassador to Tehran, Muhammad Muhammad Zahir, said that Iran is a powerful country both in the region and in the world.
In a meeting with Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, he said his people pay great respect to the Iranian nation and government.
Referring to exchange of visits between the two countries senior officials in the past several years, he said that the two sides aredetermined to boost all-out ties.
He added that the two countries parliaments play key role to furtherboost bilateral cooperation in all areas.
The Sri Lankan envoy then invited the Iranian Parliament speaker tovisit his country in the near future.
Accepting the invitation, Larijani said the two nations share manyidentical religious and cultural common grounds.
He underlined the need for further expansion of cooperation betweenthe two parliaments.
Lauding Colombo's independent stand regarding human rights in Iran, he said the bullying powers, particularly the US, make attempts to weaken the independent countries while they, themselves, supportinternational terrorism.
