KazMunaiGaz plans to enter top thirty by oil output before 2015.
BAKU, June 3 (Itar-Tass) - Kazakhstan's state-owned energy group
KazMunaiGaz seeks to enter the list of the top thirty companies in the
world ranked by oil reserves and oil production before 2015, the company's
CEO, Kairgeldy Kabyldin, told the international oil and gas conference in
Baku.
"By this time our oil reserves will total 790 million tonnes, while
the oil output will reach 24 million tonnes and the oil refinery - 16.5
million tonnes," he said on Wednesday.
In particular, he noted that KazMunaiGaz implements several dozens of
energy projects, including the North Caspian Project, where early oil
production is scheduled for late 2012- early 2013.
Kabyldin stressed that KazMunaiGaz actively cooperates with Azerbaijan
on the construction of the Trans-Caspian Oil Transport System that will
deliver oil from Kazakhstan's Kashagan oil field to free markets with the
use of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
"We hope that the oil production at Kashagan will begin in 2013," he
said.
KazMunaiGaz adheres to the policy of diversified transportation of
energy resources. In particular, the company plans to create its gas
infrastructure taking into account the fact that Kazakhstan is a transit
country for Central Asian gas supplies, he said.
"Moreover, KazMunaiGaz plans to create processing capacities to meet
by 2014 the country's demand for high-octane petrol 40 percent of which
are now imported and for jet fuel," Kabyldin said.
He said the company will also build an asphalt plant to develop
Kazakhstan's road infrastructure.
