Three aid ship Australians leave Israel

Three Australians who were held in Israeli detention over a deadly clash on an aid
flotilla have arrived in Turkey.
A fourth Australian, 20-year-old Ahmed Talib, remains in an Israeli hospital after
being shot in the leg.
His partner is waiting in Israeli detention until he is fit to travel.
The five Australians were on board an aid flotilla on its way to the Palestinian
territory of Gaza when Israeli forces boarded it.
Nine people died in the incident on Monday and debate continues as to who was
responsible for the violence.
Two of the freed Australians, Fairfax journalist Paul McGeough and photographer Kate
Geraghty, spoke of their ordeal via phone from Istanbul with The Sydney Morning
Herald's website.
Mr McGeough said Israeli boats had circled the flotilla like "hyenas hunting animals
in the night" before moving in suddenly.
"Kate and I got pushed around," he told smh.com.au, adding that the incident was
"very ugly" and "testosterone-driven".
Mr McGeough said the Israeli commandos had stood over them in a bullying way.
Ms Geraghty said she had been frightened during the incident and had been left with
minor injuries. She thinks she was tasered by Israeli forces.
Peter Fray, editor of The Sydney Morning Herald, said he was deeply concerned about
the circumstances surrounding the detention of Mr McGeough and Ms Geraghty and their
deportation.
"Paul and Kate have agreed to be deported only because they have had legal advice
that they will be able to appeal their deportation even after they have left
Israel," Mr Fray said in a statement.
"The fact remains that they were denied free passage in Israel to carry out their
reporting assignment despite the Israeli authorities knowing full well that they are
accredited journalists."
