KOROLYOV, June 2 (Itar-Tass) - Three cosmonauts who returned to the
Earth from the ISS on Wednesday have successfully passed a traditional
"apple eating test," director of the Moscow-based Institute of Medical and
Biological Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences Igor Ushakov told a
press conference held after successful landing of the international space
crew. "The condition of Oleg Kotov, Soichi Noguchi and Timothy Creamer is
good, their blood pressure and pulse are normal," Ushakov said.
Ushakov highly appreciated the presence of a serious, attentive
doctor (Chief pilot Oleg Kotov) on board the ISS and believes that Kotov
will make his contribution to ensuring medical support during future space
flights.,
Chief of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) Anatoly Perminov highly
praised Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi who had been brought to the ISS
on board the Russian spaceship Soyuz for the first time. "Noguchi is an
excellent cosmonaut. He is well-trained, has a friendly character and was
the heart and soul of the space crew. He treated his colleagues to
Japanese food and performed his flight program beyond reproach," the
Roscomos chief said. The Japanese astronaut demonstrated his hospitality,
sharing his module with Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Korniyenko who remained
in the Japanese module after the Japanese astronaut returned to the Earth,
Perminov added.
The space crew of the ISS 22/23 mission, including Chief pilot Oleg
Kotov, NASA astronaut Timothy Creamer and Japanese astronaut Soichi
Noguchi, returned to the Earth at 7. 25 am Moscow time Wednesday. Eighteen
search planes and helicopters ensured search for the space crew and their
safety upon landing.
The cosmonauts are to be airlifted to the city of Karangada in a
helicopter from where they will go different ways. Oleg Kotov will take a
special flight to Chkalovsky aerodrome in the Moscow region, while his
colleagues will fly to a post-flight rehabilitation center in the United
States. In future, this will be done on a regular basis, Roscosmos said.
